Chain Reaction Contraptions
Want to Know How Things Work?
Grab your tools and your imagination and come ready to explore the world of simple machines. Learn about the basic mechanics that make things move and go and let your imagination do the rest.
This camp will direct you away from the traditional ways of looking at problems to send you spinning into the intuitive, chaotic realm of your imagination. You will build a chain reaction contraption that complicates the simplest of tasks to investigate the inner-workings of machines and how they fit together to create a powerful tool that gets things done.
We will guide you through the design process as you take collections of bits and parts to build an innovative, yet somehow logical, contraption to conquer the job at hand. Camp will finish with a bang as you reveal your capstone project in Showcase to end the week and celebrate your success!
Each day of STEM Camp will examine concepts in sequence to develop skills needed to design and build a chain reaction contraptions. Students will be introduced to topics and then allowed to apply and experience these concepts through hands-on activities and games.
